Vampire Facelift in Berlin

The well-known name from the media. Behind it is a PRP treatment with your own blood plasma. We explain what the term means and how the treatment works at our practice.

Hardly any term in aesthetic medicine sounds as striking as the vampire facelift. Behind the name, however, there is no gimmick but an established principle: treating the skin with platelet-rich plasma from your own blood.

The vampire facelift is PRP for the face

The name is marketing; the procedure behind it is medicine. In a vampire facelift, as with any PRP treatment, a small amount of blood is taken and prepared, and the resulting plasma is introduced into the facial skin. The growth factors it contains are intended to stimulate the skin’s own regeneration. The catchy term has helped make the method known to a broad public.

What lies behind the effect

Platelet-rich plasma brings with it a range of growth factors, including PDGF, TGF and VEGF. These messenger substances are involved in cell division, the formation of new blood vessels and the formation of collagen. On the face, this is intended to stimulate the fibroblasts, the cells that produce new connective tissue. Studies with several sessions report improvements in skin firmness, texture and fine lines, but at the same time point to the limited and inconsistent evidence. For us, dealing honestly with these limitations is part of the process.

Who is it suitable for?

The vampire facelift is aimed at people who want to support their skin’s appearance with the body’s own resources, without using foreign substances. As with any skin treatment, the result depends on the starting point. In the personal skin analysis, we clarify whether the method matches your expectations. A series of several sessions a few weeks apart is usual, followed by top-up treatments.

How it differs from hair treatment

The term vampire facelift refers to the skin, not to the hair. If your concern is hair loss, PRP treatment of the scalp is the right approach. Both applications are based on the same underlying principle but pursue different goals.
